"And I suppose most of the nurses are bitchy, doctors are having sex with each other in the back rooms, and some doctors are falling in love with their patients? I so did not sign up for this." Charlie rolled her eyes - playfully - surprised that she was actually talking to someone she had literally just met. That never happened; not with her trust issues. Either way it was nice to actually have a real conversation for once. One without yelling or screaming.
Pushing a strand of blonde hair out of her eyes; Charlie tilted her head curiously - nose scrunching up like a bunny in the process. Something she had always done when she was curious about something. And right now? Her curiosity was at its peak. So many questions ran through her mind. What would she tell him? Should she actually tell him? What would happen if he found out?
Charlie snapped out of her thoughts when she heard her real name - Charlotte. Shudder. Now she knew he was serious. "I never said you were stupid." She crossed her arms across her chest just as he was - looking at him standing at the foot of the bed. He was on to her. "I'm pretty sure anyone visited the hospital more than once. I'm extremely clumsy, you know."
Her eyes narrowed, a wary look on her face. She knew where Marcus was going with this. "Yes, I'm in a relationship. So?"

"Are you kidding? That shit goes on in real life. See that nurse out there?" He cocked his head toward a blond nurse sitting at the counter on the other side of the window and lowered his voice. "Huuuuuge bitch. Oh, and just last week I walked into the supply closet and found Dr. Jones with his pants around his ankles and the new hot intern wrapped around him in a very compromising position."
Marcus had no clue why he was telling her all of this, he didn't normally talk with patients in this manner. But, he enjoyed the conversation. It was nice to get what he saw in the supply closet off his chest.
When he saw Charlie mimic his folded arms he had to smirk at her. Two stubborn people. Marcus was sure this would be entertaining to someone on the other side, had the circumstances been different.
"I don't think you said I was stupid, I just wanted to make the fact known that I'm not." He said firmly, but with a light shrug before acknowledging her visit-the-hospital-often comment. "And that's probably true, but I highly doubt you're attacked by strangers all the time. So how's that relationship going?"
Immediately after he said them, Marcus regretted those last five words. He'd spoke them quite harsh, and the last thing he wanted was to offend the girl infront of him.

Right after Marcus had pointed out the glass window, a slight smirk revealed itself on her features. There sat the nurse doing paperwork at the front desk. She seemed to be glaring over at some of the other nurses who also seemed to be new to the hospital - causing Charlie to laugh ever so lightly. "I can see from here that's true." With that, Charlie shifted her weight on the bed, staring wide eyed at him. So those shows were based off of the truth.
"What? No patients or doctors falling in love with each other? That seems to be the main focus on the television." Charlie snickered, resting her head back down on the pillow. This was nice though - an actual conversation where Charlie actually got treated like a human being. She wouldn't admit it to anyone - but - she was starting to trust him more as the time passed.
Charlie kept shaking her head. He was stubborn - just like her - and it didn't seem like any of this was going to end any time soon unless she gave in and told him what had really happened. "I never said I was beaten by strangers all the time. You assumed that." Charlie corrected; cocking her eyebrow at him.
Sigh. She was getting tired of this. "Say I do tell you what really happened, what exactly would you do? You wouldn't be able to help." Pause. Charlie flinched at his harsh words, looking away from Marcus. "That's none of your business."

Marcus shrugged loosely. "I dunno, I think she secretly wants me." He joked, peering back out the window toward the woman. She met his gaze with a threatening look. "...she's just sour because she knows she can't have this." He added as he made a sweeping gesture at his own body. Of course, he didn't really think that. He actually had a theory that the nurse was a succubus sent from the depths hell.
Laughing with her for a moment, he realized this was the most relaxed he'd ever felt when he was working. "Well, I haven't experienced it yet." Marcus stated when the conversation strayed to falling in love with patients. "But then again, I'm still pretty new here. It must be bound to happen sometime." He rolled his eyes as he said this, as if it was such a stupid concept, but resolved it by winking playfully at Charlie.
"Oh, you're just twisting my words now. That's not the fair way to play, now, Missy." Marcus advised, half serious and half humorous. "As a doctor you have to assume things. And so now I'm assuming you're not giving all of the hairy details as to why you're here."
Ha.
"Listen, I'm sorry, I'm just trying to help you." he apologized to her sincerely. He thought about her question. Besides calling the cops, which might just make things worse, what else could he do. Shaking the thoughts out of his head, Marcus turned his attention back to trying to get answers out of Charlie.
"Well, it looks like I can't do anything, not if you don't give me any information, but no matter. My job's done. I got you through surgery. Have a good night." And with that he turned on his heel. Once his back was to her, Marcus smiled slightly to himself. "Oh, and if you give us your boyfriend's contact information we can get him down here, I'm sure he'd want to know what was going on." Hopefully, if this worked out the way he hoped it would, her reaction to his little suggestion would tell him all he needed to know.

Charlie laughed at Marcus's comments, watching as the nurse turned around to glare over at him. It was the first time Charlie actually got a good view of her face. And by the look on hers, it wasn't a very good one. "Oh my god. You've got to be kidding me." Charlie groaned. "That is the same nurse who kept waking me up every 5 minutes to take my temperture all night last time I was here. Told me to suck it up when she had to replace my IV." Charlie huffed. Hopefully that wouldn't happen this time around. "I can't stand her."
"You haven't experienced it yet? Shows where your mind is. I asked that ever happened to anyone here." Charlie reminded with a small grin, lifting herself up ever so slightly in attempt to get comfortable. The medication was now in full affect - thankfully - and not making her sick. Yet. "Remember how you said give you a warning if I needed to puke? Well, if I do, just call that nurse in here."
"Believe what you want. All you have is assumptions. You have no real prove what I said didn't happen." She nodded, "I don't need to be helped though. I can take care of myself."
Yeah, right. If only that were the case. Hearing Marcus's words, her heart started to race. Call her boyfriend to let him know whats going on? Gulp. A look of terror overcame her features, trying her hardest not to cry at the thought of it. "Please, don't." Charlie whispered, looking down once more in attempt to hide her face.
"You already know what's going on. Are you really going to make me say it?"

Noticing that the nurse was still staring him down dangerously, Marcus put on a wide, fake smile and turned to the woman, waving at her from a dozen yards away as if nothing was happening. "Yeah, we're totally not in here talking about you! Dumb broad..." he said sarcastically, trying his best to talk out of the corner of his mouth. "Don't worry, I've got your back." Marcus reassured Charlie, facing her once again. "I'll assign you the good nurses."
"Shut up, I've had a long day." He replied with a stupid grin back at Charlie. "I think some of the more 'serious' doctors try and woo anything that comes through these doors." He admitted, finally answering her question. "And I've had some patients hit on me before, but they were a tad too old for me... it's a little creepy, actually." He winced at the thought.
Marcus was going to come up with a snide remark in exchange for what she'd said, but caught himself and decided against it. He was halfway through the door when she responded to his comments about contacting her boyfriend, and in his head had begun to treat it as a small victory. However, once he had turned around and seen her horrified expression Marcus didn't know what to think. His face turned stony as he walked closer to the side of the bed.
"No, I won't make you say it." He answered her quietly.

Charlie kept her eyes glued to the glass windows in the front of the room peaking into the nurses station. Well. At least they had curtains on the windows so she wouldn't have to keep staring at her all night and have some privacy. Not that closing the curtains would keep her out. Did the door have a lock on it? Probaly not, but still. Charlie wished they did. "Why be a nurse if you're going to be miserable while working? I never understood that." Charlie shrugged ever so lightly, smiling. "Thank you for that."
A gasp rose from the girls throat. "You told me.. to.. shut up?" Charlie laughed softly, pretending to be hurt. "How dare you." Going quiet she listened to the rest of what Marcus had to say; scrunching her nose up curiously at his comments. "The more 'serious' doctors? What do you mean? I think you are." She tilted her head to the side, nose still scrunched. "Well. I'm only twenty-two. Not that I'm hitting on you." Charlie rolled her eyes, laughing even more.
After a few moments silence had replaced the laughter in the room. She kept her eyes down at the bed sheets, not wanting to look him in the eyes. It was difficult to talk about; having never told anyone before. Marcus was the first person besides herself to know.
"He's done it ever since I was fifteen and he was seventeen." Charlie whispered, grimacing at the mental images in her head. "He.. he almost killed me once, maybe twice." Her voice became even quieter; still not lifting her head up. "I was going to have his kid and then, well..." Charlie shook her head, not wanting to finish.
